An Ancient, Dark Ghost

It’s that feeling that you’re not alone… that, perhaps, you are merely a host for something with hatred in its bones… an incredible, ancient, dark ghost. And, I’ve felt this before. It’s growing more and more. It’s hatred, matched with my own scorn. You’ve been warned, you’ve been warned. I’ve been hiding this passenger from all the damage that is yet to come. There’s nowhere left to run, to run, run… there’s nowhere left to run. You will not be spared this time. For, I am just what you made me to be, now the death toll chimes. You destroyed all that I was, your Mother Earth now bears her claws… her claws.

Bullets fly, and we wonder why. Guns in hand, so you can make a stand. You look away, for a safer day… but, the bullets fly in a school hallway! Another death, added to the pile. Another loss, stretched for fucking miles. Don’t hold your breath, for a change to come. The starred and striped, march to their war drum. Oh, make sure to teach ‘em well, pumping hate into each and every blood cell… and give ‘em hell, if what you tell doesn’t sit well. Give ‘em hell! Another death, added to the pile. Another loss, stretching for fucking miles. Don’t hold your breath, for a change to come. The starred and striped, march to their war drum. War drum! War drum! War drum!

I’m Your Lighthouse

Oh, what is the ringing in my ears? It brings me to tears, brought on by my greatest fears… how to raise my daughter over these dark years. And, what is the thumping in my chest? It causes me such stress, it keeps me up at night and I can’t fully rest. Will I pass the parental test? Oh, and how my own parents didn’t know what to say, what to hold back, or how to help me grow… how do we help them grow? I sat alone. Now, she sits alone. I sat alone, I had no friends to call my own. And now, she sits alone with no friends to call her own. How to advise and, with hope, energize... while wiping the tears from her eyes? Loneliness is, somehow, a deafening sound. And, oh, how my own parents didn’t know what to say, what to hold back, how to help me grow. I’ll have your back. I’ll take yer side. I’m the lighthouse at your lowest of tides. I’ll have your back. I’ll take yer side. I’m your lighthouse!
