Not Today 04:05
Oh, it’s been a lifetime of listening… of listening. Yeah, to each and every excuse. Oh, I know… changing your daily diet “is too much for you to end the abuse”… to end it. Oh… here you are again. Safe inside, with a smile on your face. You “couldn’t eat another greasy fucking bite”, with a belly full, full of someone else. No they longer have a place. Because you took their fucking place. But unknown to you, there’s a cry of anguish and of pain out there. Someone's suffering for some one else's blame out there. And that’s you and you and you, and you as well. You see, while you’ve entered mouth-watering heaven, another’s entered hell. Oh, but you just couldn’t give a damn. So, you just keep on killing as “a real man”. No, I don’t appreciate your selfish ways and, no, the animals don’t… we all pray for the end of your days. Hey, it turns out ya don’t need to kill, as you live your life, each and every day. It turns out ya don’t need to kill, as you live your life, each and every day. And, here I stand, defending life with a helping hand. It’s not just me, who’ll take a stand, to help all creatures great and small… to do what we can. I wish I could say that I could find a way to tolerate your selfish way, your selfish way. But, not today… or any other day.

The Parallel 05:04

The parallel is obvious
for those with eyes to see. For all to feel the suffering
, all the same god-damned misery. I know ya see it.
I know ya see it too.
I know ya see it.
I know ya see, ya see it too.
The segregation of privilege
from those considered tools.
And, the passing on of miseducation
making all of us fools. We’re all fools... taught that cats and dogs
should be treated well as pets. All the while, in cold labs, every single day, other animals meet painful deaths.

With painful experiments
for products that we consume.
A cheap way to make profits,
sending animals to their doom. ——— These lyrics based on the poem, “Animal Liberation Human Liberation” by Kenneth Cassar, with some direct phrases used with permission by the author.
3.
With creatures trapped
by people who don't care,
slaughtered for a coat of fur. And, in human pride, we share
the blood cash that caused that cruel smell in the air… in the air.
That smell in the air. With money spent on murder. Oh, the money that’s spent
on the murder of lives
just so humans can gloat, the
power that money can buy. Oh, money is spent
on the murder of lives,
just so humans can gloat,
that power that money can buy
. Say it again, money is spent
on the murder of lives
, so humans can gloat,
the power that money can buy
. And, it’s a lie… and there’s no reason why
. Step right up,
one and all,
welcome to
the death trade y’all
. And, you know what else? There’s no beauty
in fashion that calls
for an animal’s skin
to adorn your walls. There is no “trade”
that the animals made for their skin and fur to be stolen, a life-ending raid. Oh no,
please say it ain’t so... that you "can’t wait", ya "can’t wait for the next fashion show"? ——— These lyrics based on the poem, “Death Trades” by Kenneth Cassar, with some direct phrases used with permission by the author.

REVIEWS:

"Music has the ability to not just entertain but to educate; to reshape political landscapes and reconstruct ideologies. It offers an alternative to what has been spoon-fed to the masses and an opportunity to dive into new realities. And when it comes to the suffering of non-human animals in our food systems, labs and fur farms, The Lumbar Endeavor’s latest album, 'Three Wishes on the Monkey’s Paw', delivers. It’s a gut punch of 3 heavy, doom-inspired raw tracks that remind us that we are but one of millions of species we share the planet with, but our greed has pushed all of us to a breaking point. The deep sludge of the music sits in your gut, but the message will take over your head and heart. And it’s best to let it."
— Jake Conroy (The Cranky Vegan)

"The sheer passion for music expressed in the releases by The Lumbar Endeavor fully encompass Aaron Edge’s life-long study of melodic and heavy music. Each track has subtle hints of the many bands I have enjoyed throughout the years, like early D.C. hardcore. This release, also wrapped into a unique and dark compositions reminiscent of my favorite doom and metal bands. The expressive vocals deliver carefully written lyrics describing the suffering of sentient beings that have been forgotten and neglected throughout time, in turn solidifying these recordings as the important work of art that they are. Aaron cares deeply about his craft and has delivered this EP with an important message of compassion, while technically packaged in a darkened ensemble of tunes. Be sure to search out his entire catalog of work under 'The Lumbar Endeavor' project name."
—Ken Penn

"This record is heavy and dark. Because, of course, it is. Not film noir detective story dark. ('…out of nowhere, trouble walked in the front door, a trouble I hadn't seen since I did that thing that one time.') Dark with a brightness. The dark of first stepping into a basement show from the well lit outside. Before your night vision adjusts. The colors still there, warm and vibrant, intangible. A grainy childhood photograph. Elusive. Ascending up-octave, build ups and break downs… a bike ride after night games kind of bright dark. Between here and home anything is possible. 'What do we say to the Gods of Death?' 'Not today, kid.'"
—@VeganStraightEdge

“'I just caught myself humming the tune to the new doom metal record I was listening to,' said zero people in history. Well that is until hearing this record. Aaron Edge, whirlwind of creativity, who often delves deep into sludgy screaming musical muddiness, this time brings song and melody and interwoven singing to his typical style. The result is powerful, directed... and dare I say catchy. I like what I usually hear from Aaron. And I like this record even more.”
